Join us on Saturday, February 2, at Murder in the Ballroom: 1937 – a Swinging 1930’s Dance Party – at the elegant Alameda Elks Lodge at 2255 Santa Clara Avenue in Alameda. Mystery spices up the program of waltzes, Swing, fox trots, tangos, Latin, and blues at this 1930’s ball inspired by the Golden Age of Detective Fiction. Sara and Swingtime will play the latest American tunes for your dancing pleasure and, yes, they play waltzes as beautifully as they play Swing! At 7pm, there will be a pre-ball workshop in “Fred & Ginger-style” slow foxtrot and in Survival Swing and dancing follows from 8pm to midnight. Vintage or modern evening dress is admired but not required. Light refreshments, no host bar, and a mystery! Tickets are $20 in advance (by January 26); $25 at the door. For information, email peers@peersdance.org or see the ball page at http://www.peersdance.org/murder.html
