Started in August 1996, Lindy in the Park (LitP) is a fun, free, friendly, public outdoor swing dance in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate park. It is a year-round weekly event, held every Sunday, 11:00am-2:00pm, even on holidays and holiday weekends, weather permitting (no rain). If we cancel, we will post a notice by 10:00am on the day of the event on our Lindy in the Park website and Facebook. Lindy in the Park is open to the general public (all ages) for anyone who enjoys dancing or listening to swing music. Free beginning swing dance lesson with Hep Jen & Ken Watanabe: 12:00pm-12:30pm. No partner or experience required. We provide the DJ’ed music and sound system; you provide the happy feet!
LitP takes place near Golden Gate Park’s Music Concourse on the wide sidewalk area on the south side of John F. Kennedy (JFK) Drive, near the de Young Museum, between the 8th Ave. and 10th Ave. park entrances. If arriving by car, we recommend parking on or near Fulton St. (which runs along the north side of Golden Gate Park) and walking into the park using the 8th Ave. park entrance from Fulton to reach JFK Drive. (Note that the 8th Ave. entrance and JFK Dr. are closed to cars on Sundays.)
The following Muni lines are also a great option: N-Judah, 5-Fulton, 7-Haight/Noriega, 28-19th Ave, 31-Balboa, 33-Stanyan, 38-Geary, 43-Masonic, 44-O’Shaughnessy.
If you don’t find us on JFK Drive, listen for the music and look for us at our alternate site, the Music Concourse band shell, officially known as the “Spreckels Temple of Music” and located at the southwest end of the Music Concourse.
